Safety Precautions

- All participants are to stay together in their groups when moving around Ubin for their activities.

- If there is a need to leave the campsite temporarily (e.g. to the toilet), participants are to go at least in a pair.

- Do not drink water from the island as the water is not potable.

- We can only start fire either at cooking area or campfire area. Water is to be prepared nearby and all flammable items are to be kept away from these areas.

- Be aware of your surroundings

- Beehive & wasps. Do not approach. If attacked, run about 50 to 80m, then lie on the ground, covering your neck.

- Wild boars. Do not approach them. If chased, run in a zigzag manner. You can NEVER outrun them.

- Snakes. Back away slowly while facing them.

- Ants nest. Do not tamper with it.

- Before putting on footwear in the morning, do flip the footwear over and try to ensure nothing is inside the footwear before putting in your feet. This is to ensure that there are no insects or foreign objects inside the footwear.

- No participants are to enter any water bodies at any point in time. Participants are to keep well away from any water bodies along their route.

- In case of inclement weather (heavy rain and/or lightning), participants will be instructed by teacher-in-charge to stop their activities and look for shelters nearby. Good shelters would be the various huts marked on the maps as well as the jetty.

- Participants are to constantly hydrate themselves at all times, even when on the move or resting so as to prevent heat injuries.

- Lastly, do constantly look out for each other’s well being during the camp. Sound off immediately if you notice anyone not feeling well or anything that might pose a danger to anyone.
